They will nibble plants so if youre going to go down that route then hardy foliage is a must. It's difficult to loose fish buddies so soon, and I'm thankful to know that my one year olds aren't at a halfway point. 60-gallons is a good size for 2-4 fancy goldfish, my friend keeps two huge fan-tails in a 50-gallon and they have plenty of space to swim around. My oldest Betta ever was 5ish, and many passed away around the 2 year mark. ![]() They can even be used as feeder fish if you so choose. These fish are very hardy and can thrive in a variety of different conditions. No heaters to worry about! It's wonderful!Īlso I'm so happy to know they'll live much longer. Rosy Red Minnows are one of our favorite species, and near the top of the list when it comes to cold water fish for your aquarium. I highly prefer having a bare bottom as my Python doesn't get enough suction to properly vacuum a substrate, and my goldies poop a lot. Go for sand if you want a substrate for them to sift through or have a bare bottom tank for easy cleanup and way less mess. In a small 5-gallon aquarium, your goldfish will still grow. Very high waste production, so make sure to have a great filter and a water change schedule!Īvoid gravel as they could choke on it. A large tank gives your goldfish plenty of room to grow to their full potential. A tank so plain that a Betta would be terrified and have nowhere to rest? Yeah, that. You want as much swimming room as possible, don't worry about decorations to hide in etc. It's so weird after having Betta fish for so long.ĭefinitely agree with the earlier comment, the 50 will be wonderful for three fancies! Major differences to note Hello fellow Betta keeper! After first getting my fancies it was so weird to see two fish in the same tank! And they like each other.
